Born in Campinas (SP), Brazil, he completed a degree in Medicine at the University of Campinas (Unicamp) in 1989 and a residency in Gynecology and Obstetrics with an extension to Gynecology Oncology and Mastology at Unicamp (1990-1993). Graduated in Pelvic Surgery at the Hospital A.C. Camargo Cancer Center (Sao Paulo) and in Mastology at the Tumor Institute in Milan (Italy) in 1993. Colposcopist at the Brazilian Association of Genitoscopy (ABPTGIC, 1995) and assistant physician at the Women's Hospital (CAISM) at Unicamp since 1995, working mainly in gynecology oncology and HPV-related pathologies. Since then, he has completed a postgraduate degree in Gynecology at Unicamp (1996/Master's and 2000/Doctorate), joined the teaching career at Unicamp's Faculty of Medical Sciences in 2013, and also working in administration. Since 2019, he has been the hospital's head of the Oncology Division. He obtained the title of Associate Professor in Gynecology in the year 2019 and is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Tocogynecology. He is Professor of the Postgraduate Course, classified with the maximum grade of CAPES. He participated in clinical trials of the GSK HPV vaccine since 2000, conducting phase II, phase III, and phase IV studies until 2018. He currently coordinates the Demonstration Project for the Implementation of an Organized Cervical Cancer Screening Program with HPV test since 2017, has carried out the study for the development of a molecular panel for the prognostic definition of uterine neoplasms since 2020, and has developed a project to shorten the process for the diagnosis and treatment of symptomatic women with endometrial cancer.
